I have a Bachelors of Art in weaving and textile design from Ball State University in Indiana. I had an affinity for color, texture and history. I am a self-taught painter. I started painting in 2023 and found that I really love the process and expressing myself through the canvas.
I have used my degree in textile design in various ways in my paintings. My abstract works all have a component of woven designs in them. This has never been intentional but upon reflection I see that pattern incorporated in each piece. In my non-abstract pieces a recurring subject has always been flowers no matter what medium I was working with. Color is fundamental in my art. I admired many artists, but Georgia O”keefe was my favorite because of her style, monastic lifestyle and courage. I think some of my paintings are reflective of her. Being able to create original artwork and be passionate about it is important to me.
